In Camps, Gothenburg 2010 on September 24, 2009 at 6:07 am

So, what’s next after the European Championships?

The next competition for many masters swimmers will be the national championships during September-October. But at latest soon after them it’s time to start thinking the next big event, the XIII World Masters Championships in Gothenburg in July-August 2010.

To some the training towards Gothenburg gets a bit more serious and they may even consider some camps.

The first of those three camps will take place on 15th to 22nd of November 2009, the second in the end of December and the third on February 2010.

Glen has coached swimmers world record holder and world champion in distance swimming and sprints. 1500 freestyle Jörg Hoffmann, world champion in backstroke Antje Buschschulte and European champion in 50m freestyle Linda Olofsson. He has been the Olympic coach in Atlanta 1996 and a former head coach Olympic performance centre in Hamburg, Germany.

In Masters Forum that took place in Cadiz European Championships, Kurt Mikkola from LEN told that the European Championships of 2011 would still be available for applicants.

He also pointed, that Masters European Championships are actually the only event in LEN-calendar, that is profitable for the organizing part.

The previous EC in Kranj was the largest sports event in Europe during year 2007. The Cadiz EC 2009 may be that as well with its 4049 participants.
